The MMAF ID Fund was established in 1990, under the umbrella of the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation (MMA Foundation). The main aim of the Fund is to financially support all activities that are related to Infectious Diseases & Chemotherapy. This includes the sponsorship of registration fees of MSIDC members to attend congresses, seminars and workshops that are held under the auspices of the Society.
Since 2001, the ID Fund also sponsors the MMAF Pathology (Microbiology) Award. This is given to the top student in the Final Examination for Masters of Pathology (Microbiology). The recipient receives a cash award of RM200.00, a plaque, a pin and a certificate. Recipients are the Masters of Pathology (Microbiology) candidates of the Conjoint Board Examination conducted in turns between University of Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
In 2000, the MMAF Infectious Diseases Visiting Fellowship was established. Three fellowships are awarded each year. The grant provides an economy return flight, hotel accommodation for the duration of their stay, as well as a per diem of RM150.00 per day for foreign speakers. These visiting fellows will be required to help coordinate or conduct workshops or seminars within Malaysia, under the auspices of the Society.
